If you work with people in health, education, social services, care or justice areas, in some way you will have been/be affected by what you hear, witness, see, feel or are asked to do/not do. It can be tough, and often pressures are such that time to reflect or be pro-active in your work can be brief or undervalued. This is not a healthy place to remain and we can become tired, disillusioned, cynical even. But we know we love our jobs so why does this happen? Vicarious or secondary trauma is a thing. You are human and you absorb some levels of impact of what you witness into yourself. Our defences are strong and we can avoid, deny or dismiss these. We want to continue to work in these essential areas with vulnerable people, and to do so we need time out to reflect, express, share, and comprehend our experiences.
I offer a safe confidential group experience rooted in art therapy theory and practice to benefit you and ultimately those you work and live with. We will, use art materials and art therapy concepts - there is NO requirement to be any good at art, just to be open to use them individually and together.
