“What would I tell someone else about how Art Therapy might help them? “ These school leavers had come to 1-2-1 Art Therapy for between 1 and 3 years for reasons around anxiety, grief, mental health, exclusion, and new/waiting diagnoses of ADHD and autism.
If you feel insecure about anything you can talk to Alison and she will validate your struggles.
Art Therapy is a place where the time is yours to do what you would like to do. It’s a place where you can relax and don’t have to worry about anything and if there is, you can talk/share how you feel and there is not wrong answer.
It could help you express yourself in a way that you won’t really feel judged. It can help you express and release sometimes. More time means less rush.
It relieves stress - it’s a good way to take your mind off stuff, to calm down. It’s just a relaxing things to do. You can make what you want, with boxes, card, paper, toys and games. I would recommend it.
It’s somewhere to talk. Something to look forward to. Because you’re here every Tuesday so it’s regular. You get to understand each other and it’s not a different person so you don't have to repeat yourself. They remember plus it stays in the room, and you don’t have to worry about someone else finding out.
